Plan your visit
Island travel,
with a clear starting point.
Begin on Fukue, Goto’s main arrival base. The right connections and enough time between islands make a more thoughtful pilgrimage possible.
An orientation, not a timetable
Transfers, reservations and weather margins are checked for your actual dates.
Getting to Goto
Reach Fukue.
Then take your time.
Fukue can be reached by air from Fukuoka or Nagasaki, and by sea from Nagasaki or Hakata. Seats and departures are limited, so connections need early planning.
Between-island visits need their own boat and road arrangements. A day on Hisaka or Naru is more than the crossing itself.

Choose depth
over a checklist.
Fukue
The base for the latest five-day concepts: arrivals, accommodation, churches, heritage interpretation and living-service histories.
Hisaka
Roya-no-Sako, Hamawaki and the Gorin area connect pilgrimage with witness and the island’s Catholic story. Walking access needs checking.
Naru
Egami and the island landscape illuminate migration and hidden faith. Interior visits and any mountain route require planning.
Before you travel
The questions
worth asking early.
We’ll discuss arrival and departure plans, group size, walking ability, room preferences and the spiritual elements you hope to include.
How many days should I allow?
We recommend staying at least five nights in Goto. Weather can sometimes cancel boat services, and a longer stay gives your pilgrimage more flexibility for island visits. Share your arrival and departure plans so we can help shape a realistic itinerary.
Are all routes accessible?
Wheelchair arrangements and car-based travel instead of walking are available by request. Tell us your needs early so we can check suitable transport, access and routes with you. Accessibility varies by church, boat and vehicle.
What should I know about church visits?
Please dress respectfully, keep quiet and follow local guidance. Veils are commonly worn at Sunday Mass in Goto, but they are not required. Photography inside churches is prohibited. Some visits require advance arrangements, including Egami and the Former Gorin Church.
What happens if the weather changes?
Boats and flights may be canceled because of weather. We will discuss itinerary changes and the options available. Refund terms are being confirmed and will be provided in the booking terms before you commit.
Is Mass included automatically?
No. Mass and private liturgy require local permission, suitable venues and celebrant coordination. Share your chaplain arrangements and spiritual priorities early.
