Rooted in Goto. Welcoming the world.
Pilgrimage with
a local purpose.
Goto Pilgrim Tours connects international pilgrims with the Goto Islands’ Christian heritage and the living communities that carry it today.
Who we are
Local roots.
An international perspective.
Founded by Takayuki Gunge, Goto Pilgrim Tours is an English-language pilgrimage specialist based on Fukue. His Goto roots and international professional experience support a role connecting overseas travelers and island communities.
The company specializes in Catholic pilgrimage. The founder is Protestant and deeply respects Catholic faith; that respect informs the way the company approaches local worship and community life.
We want the world to know Goto’s faithful Catholics and the witnesses to faith in Japan. Our purpose includes sustaining and revitalizing the islands, especially Hisaka, where small communities carry a remarkable heritage. A visit can become a lasting friendship and a reason to return.
Some hidden Christian communities preserved devotion through Buddhist-associated images and outward practices. Their history deserves careful explanation, with respect for both traditions and for today’s Catholic communities.
Our services include English guiding and interpretation, itinerary design and coordination of travel arrangements, with every journey scoped to actual capabilities and permissions.
Our purpose
Welcome pilgrims.
Help faith live on.
Benefits stay local
We seek to connect travel spending with local businesses, services and employment.
Respect the living Church
Local communities’ prayer, consent and daily life come before a visitor’s checklist.
Preserve sacred heritage
We hope a visit becomes a lasting relationship with Goto’s people and sacred places.
